Club History

Established in 2001, the Silverthread Outdoor Club has evolved over the years and has seen many, many awesome faces enjoy our Rio Grande Forest and surrounding areas through our activities and events. At one point, the Silverthreaders were the original search and rescue for the area and groomed the trails in the winter time for snowmobiles and cross country skiing. Currently the club is the official sponsor of Hwy 160 between mile markers 185-187 and the official sponsor for the North Fork trail on Wolf Creek Pass. Thank you to all who have helped and continue to help keep our trails open and accessible. And a special thank you to the board of advisors and committees over the years who run things behind the scenes and keep an organization like this going.

Currently, our hiking group meets at the South Fork Visitor Center on Mondays and Wednesdays to hit the trails. Join us at 9am in the summer and 10am in the winter.
